Ronacrete Sponsor Peoples Open Golf Tournament
Without doubt the most exciting golf I have played has been in Pro-Ams when well known professional golfers team up with amateurs, often to raise money for charities. On the first tee the adrenalin kicks in and that overcomes the tension brought on by the loudspeaker announcing that “And the next player is Maurice Osen – winner of the midweek medal in July 1982!”
Over the years Ronacrete has help raise more than £2 million for charity projects.
The
Ronacrete-Burdens Open Golf at Royal Birkdale is for amateurs only and it provides the opportunity to play on the Open Championship course just 4 weeks after Padraig Harrington repeated his 2007 success and held the famous Claret Jug aloft.
Turnberry has already been booked for the 2009 Tournament; the date is again one month after the Open.
Not only am I proud to be part of such an event and occassion, but also to know that Ronacrete products are used on our golf courses, major and minor, for sympathetic landscaping of paths and parking areas, for safety grip surfacing on steeper paths for players on foot and in golf buggies, and also for tree surounds where porous Ronadeck Tree Pits allows trees to feed yet avoid the unsightly mess of loose stones.
We are delighted to have our very good friends and client W T Burden joining us in supporting this event. Press and media coverage is by the Daily Express and Setanta TV.
