New performance floor ready in days

The pitted, stained and uneven floor of a huge empty warehouse in Southampton has been transformed into a smooth, flat and enduring surface for a new Autolink car supermarket using RonaScreed DB FastFloor rapid-set screed and RonaDeck EWB Epoxy Floor Coating.

In the interests of speed, initial consideration had been given to using only a water-based epoxy flooring, but this would not have solved the problems with irregularities and blemishes in the floor that would have been emphasized and exaggerated by a paint coating.

The Contractor, Aedean Ltd, recommended RonaScreed DB FastFloor to a screed thickness of 6mm, sealed with two coats of RonaDeck EWB epoxy floor coating, to give an exceptionally smooth, level and hardwearing floor that could be laid very quickly. The time factor was of extreme importance, as Autolink needed immediate space in which to park waiting cars.

Using conventional materials and methods to cover the 1,700 square metres of floor space would have taken the best part of three weeks to complete the job, but using the specified Ronacrete products enabled the entire project to be completed in only six days from start to finish. This not only gave an exceptionally fast turnaround, but considerable savings in time and labour costs. Mark Dean, Director of Aedean Ltd stated "The ability to complete this project so fast was only possible because of the excellent quality of Ronacrete products".

RonaScreed DB FastFloor (now RonaScreed Self Smooth) is a  flow-applied industrial floor screed suitable for new and refurbished floors. It gains strength exceptionally quickly, can be walked on after three hours and take light to medium traffic after only 18 hours.

RonaDeck EWB Coating is a two-part water-based epoxy resin floor coating. Available in a wide range of attractive colours, it has excellent adhesion to a wide variety of substrates and provides a tough, hardwearing floor finish.
