Warm and dry living space thanks to Ronafix

Ronafix has been applied to basement brickwork walls to keep water out of the basement of an 1840's built farmhouse in Essex.

Owned by a local family and recently the subject of a substantial home improvement investment, the property standing in 1 acre of grounds includes a natural well. With one third of the property sitting below ground level and keen to make as much of the space useable for living space or storage, making these rooms waterproof was essential.

Having previously used Ronafix to waterproof the walls of his commercial photographic studios the home owner instructed his building contractor to again use Ronafix watertight render mix design E as a render onto the brick walls.

After power washing to remove loose material from the face of the bricks and also to remove loose and soft pointing mortar from between, the brick face was left damp and primed with Ronafix and cement primer. The Ronafix modified render of cement, sharp sand, Ronafix and water was then mixed and trowel applied in two 6mm layers, staggering the joints  to avoid water getting though.

The render was then cured with a spray applied coat of Monocure 50 curing membrane to prevent rapid drying and shrinkage cracking.

Waterproofing has been carried out over an 18 month period and the rooms are now decorated, occupied, and dry.

Ronafix has been awarded four Agrément Certificates, one of which specifically endorses and confirms its use for waterproofing applications.
