So imagine what happens when a major road and pedestrianisation scheme carried out just 2 years ago has to be redone as a result of a bedding mortar failure. The failure resulted from the use of an originally installed ordinary unmodified sand/cement mortar between the road and the blocks. Water, frost, impact and shear caused the weak bond to break, the mortar to crumble and the blocks work their way loose. The surface then became dangerous and unsightly. The revised specification was drawn up to remove the failed blocks and re-bed them in the RonaFloor One Hour mortar.

 

Within just one hour cars, buses and lorries were back on the blocks, even at the low temperatures being experienced in the October of that year.
